The primary goal of this Workshop is to teach specific yoga-based movements, breath patterns and meditations that support healthy lymph flow and an optimal immune system. This Workshop is Lisa’s signature style: myofascial release, specific breath-based flow and deeply healing restorative yoga. This class will include some forward folds and numerous twists; it is appropriate for students with non-injured spinal discs.

Yin Yoga for Self Compassion Series Sept 2020

Yin Yoga for Self- Compassion

a 5 Week Workshop Series

Yin Yoga targets the connective tissue of the hips, spine and shoulders.  Yin postures are held for an extended period of time to allow connective tissue to hydrate, restore and heal.

Yin Yoga is based on the concept of Yin/Yang energy from Traditional Chinese Medicine. According to this theory, health is balance between these two energies, which are in constant flux and experiencing a continually cycling balance.

Each class in this Workshop Series will focus on balancing the energies of a specific TCM Meridian. We will also study the 3 pillars of Self-Compassion identified by Dr. Kristin Neff, co-founder of the Center for Self-Compassion, and learn how to incorporate metta (loving-kindness) meditation into our Yin Yoga practice to enhance our sense of self-care and self-worth.

It’s a free writing method that offers a way to observe thoughts and emotion in a judgement-free zone so you can draw closer to your own Truth.

Meditation and Myofascial Release Class: October 4, 2020

Join Lisa Ash Drackert at Westport Yoga KC one Sunday of the month for a morning of meditation and self-care. First, we will utilize self myofascial release techniques (S-MFR) to heal connective tissue, restore tissue integrity and mobilize joints to move freely without pain.

This work will awaken the body to prepare for mindful meditation.  Each class is a different myofascial release focus; you may work on healing tissues in the neck, shoulders, back, jaw, wrists, forearms, hips, or feet. Whatever body area is the focus, you’ll feel refreshed and relieved.

Then, we will share in a guided meditation including pranayama, systematic relaxation techniques and mantra to strengthen our mind-body-spirit connection.

Advanced Yoga Teacher Training Module

Using evidence-based research on fascial health and connective tissues, learn how to safely and effectively incorporate Self Myofascial Release techniques into group classes as well as one-on-one with private therapeutic clients.

Self Myofascial Release is a healing technique that targets the connective tissue and the fascial system to decrease pain and discomfort, improve Range of Motion, restore joint mobility and build tissue integrity through hydration and healthy stress.

This training includes detailed discussion of fascial anatomy as well as how to locate and address common trigger points within muscle and fascial systems that are caused by poor posture, dehydration of tissues and overuse with improper alignment.

We will also learn how to teach pranayama exercises that induce the Relaxation Response in the nervous system and positively affect the health of our connective tissues.

In this course, we will learn how to:

  • accurately explain the physiology of fascia and importance of fascial health
  • introduce students and clients to the benefits of Self Myofascial Release (S-MFR)
  • hydrate and heal connective tissue through the use of SMFR tools such as RAD Rounds, yoga blocks and yoga bolsters
  • effectively teach SMFR techniques within group class settings
  • identify common trigger points that cause referral pain and teach SMFR techniques to reduce discomfort with one-on-one clients
  • teach pranayama and systematic relaxation techniques that restore the nervous system functionality and positively affect the health of our connective tissues
  • structure 60-75 minute Vinyasa Flow Yoga Classes containing SMFR techniques

Our curriculum focuses on how to teach, with clarity, the contemplative yoga practices including Meditation, Restorative yoga and pranayama.

This Advanced Yoga Teacher Training Module is designed for yoga teachers who are deeply committed to the art of teaching yoga and want to learn to incorporate Meditation, Pranayama and Restorative Yoga practices into their classes.

The three-pronged approach of lecture, experiential learning and practicum teaching is ideal for yoga teachers to truly hone the art of teaching.

Our program will give you the base you need to begin teaching Meditation and Restorative Yoga with best teaching practices, sound educational theory and brain-based learning models. We will learn about how the brain responds to stress, how to guide your students into the Relaxation Response and how to build your confidence to teach meditation and mantra.
