Lisa’s yoga teaching is based on the true meaning of the word yoga: to find union.
Her dream is to create a community of hope, health and happiness that inspires students to connect with the inherent Divinity within.
“Most of us move through life yearning for freedom and space to ‘be ourselves.’ Yoga provides an individualized architecture that is based on thousands of years of collective wisdom to help us do just that. Teaching yoga is teaching people to genuinely heal, love and be themselves,” Lisa explains.
Lisa’s primary teacher is Tiffany Cruikshank and she is a Yoga Medicine® Registered Therapeutic Specialist.
Lisa holds a Master’s Degree in Education and undergraduate degrees in both Education and Religious Studies. In 2015, she graduated with her eRYT-500 hour Credentials with a specialization in Yoga Therapeutics through The Integrated Institute of Yoga Studies (IIYS). Lisa is an expert in spinal anatomy and using yoga as a functional therapy for back pain and spinal injuries.
In 2015, she won the Critic’s Choice Award in The Pitch for Best Yoga Teacher in Kansas City. Her studio Westport Yoga KC was recognized in The Pitch as a “Best of KC” Yoga Studio in 2014, 2015 and 2017. In addition, Westport Yoga KC was featured in SELF magazine as one of 14 studios in the country changing the way we think about yoga.
Lisa serves as a Lululemon Athletica Legacy Ambassador, works with Kansas City Chiefs players, teaches meditation at the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department Headquarters and is a leader in her community teaching meditation for stress relief. She began teaching yoga in 2008 and currently offers Advanced Teacher Training Events for Yoga Teachers who want to deepen their knowledge and skills.
