Extended Exhale breathing promotes a physiological response of rest and recovery. Consciously increasing the duration of the exhale calms the mind and sends a signal to stress hormones in your blood stream to dissipate; this promotes parasympathetic nervous system dominance and induces what is known as the "Relaxation Response."
