Curriculum Focus: Satya

On the yoga mat, satya means recognizing and honoring your current energy level; it means being brutally honest about your physical injuries or current limitations so you can choose integrity in your practice of poses. It means to practice in a way that brings you back to the truth of the breath. Off the yoga mat, satya should always be held in congruence with ahimsa (non-harming): it calls for clear, honest, appropriate and helpful communication that considers both short-term and long-term effects.
