Contentment and Present Moment Awareness

Contentment or Santosha, is one of the five personal practices of yoga philosophy (these are called niyamas) and is, in my opinion, the most difficult mindset to maintain. It's difficult to remember that everything around me is in flux and yet, my mindset can stay steady. I can learn to be present in the moment.

Dr. Deepak Chopra says that “Contentment is the fragrance of present moment awareness. Contentment emerges when you relinquish your attachment to the need for control, power, and approval. Contentment reflects a state of being in which your peace is independent of situations and circumstances happening around you.”

What's difficult about this concept for you?
